Job Summary: The Nurse Midwife will provide nursing care to patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during pregnancy and normal delivery under the direction of Physicians and/or Registered Nurses (RN). Job Description: Job Summary: Provide professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Independently delivers patients in labor as well as postpartum care. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Provide professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assist patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Ensure safety and health of mother and child. Identifies needs for additional care. Performs physical examinations. Orders, evaluates and monitors medical and laboratory diagnostic tests and treatment plans. Prepares, develops and initiates treatment plan. Perform related duties as assigned. Education, Licensure/Certification, and Training Required for the Job: Requires State of Michigan Licenses: RN and Midwife. Certification: American College of Nurse-Midwives 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Must be a registered nurse and familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Masters Degree in Nurse Midwifery, Nursing or Health related field preferred. Skills and Abilities Required: High level of interpersonal skills, written and verbal, necessary to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain productive working relationships with people inside and outside the Department and/or Practice. Excellent analytical ability necessary to independently identify and resolve extremely complex and unusual problems or discrepancies. Clinical knowledge to meet the medical requirements relating to various procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients, personnel and/or financial data. Patient management skills necessary to provide quality care. Analytical ability to monitor data, develop treatment plans. Independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in patient conditions. Interpersonal skill necessary to effectively communicate with patient, family members, medical staff and nursing personnel. Safety Requirements: Compliance with Departmental Health and Safety policies and procedures. Working Conditions/Schedules: 40 hour work week, hours and days to be determined by the business needs of the department. Additional hours may be required. Anyone with an approved exemption must have weekly PCR COVID-19 testing on their own time and submit the results every Monday, before arriving at work.
