Visiting Lecturer, IC036, 100%, Instructional Academic Staff, Terminal, 9-month appointment 2024-2025 academic year, one vacancy

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Superior invites applications for the position of one-year Visiting Lecturer of Biology beginning in August 2024 to instruct for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Department is seeking individuals who will provide excellent undergraduate instruction, incorporate current techniques in teaching and research, and work collaboratively to strengthen the Department¿s biology program. We are specifically seeking Biologists who can contribute to our growing Pre-Health program and the organismal and ecology side of our Biology major.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Teach 12 contact hours per semester. Courses could include Introductory Biology for majors, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, and University Studies course(s) for non-science majors in line with our liberal arts foundation. Courses could include a combination of on-campus and online classes.

Other Duties:

  • Complete required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Earned Master's in biology or a related discipline by August 31, 2024.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Salary range for this position is: $48,000 - $52,000 annually. Specific benefit information can be found here. A snapshot of benefits offered for this position include:

*Hours are pro-rated based on appointment percentage for less than 100%-time employees.

UW-Superior, A Superior Place:

The University will not reveal the identities of applicants who request confidentiality in writing, except that the identities of "final candidates" must be revealed upon request. According to the Attorney General, "final candidates" under Wisconsin law means the five candidates who are considered most qualified for the position. See Wis. Stat. Sec. 19.36(7)(a).
