About the Position:
The Administrative Manager principal duties will include, project management, and administrative support (finance, human resources, and operations) to state-wide program initiatives. The Administrative Manager will also work closely with Institute leadership to develop and monitor budgets, coordinate Institute-wide activities, and support Institute communications.
The position functions in a fast-paced, multi-faceted office. The Administrative Manager will be an independent, solution-oriented individual who is an effective communicator and collaborator.

This position will work out of the Extension building on the UW-Madison campus with potential for partial remote work (up to two days per week).

Responsibilities:Manages a program and/or programmatic activities. Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 5% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 5% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 5% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • 50% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 5% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 20% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 10% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors

- 2 years of experience related to the core job responsibilities
- Experience monitoring funding sources, creating, and balancing budgets.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and attentive listening.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
- Demonstrated team-oriented work style that involves actively seeking input and managing conflict effectively
Preferred:
- Three or more years of experience related to the core job responsibilities
- Experience with UW-Madison systems, policies, and procedures or in higher education structure, fiscal and administrative policies, and procedures.
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in creating and leading a work environment which supports the development of positive, effective teams

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
