Job Summary:

The La Follette School of Public Affairs is highly ranked among graduate degree public policy programs and enjoys a worldwide reputation for research and teaching. Our mission is to train leaders and conduct research to inspire evidence-based policymaking and to advance the public good.
As a member of La Follette's Student Services team, the Graduate Program Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator I will be responsible for completing a broad range of duties that involve:
- recruiting and developing collaborative partnerships to bring in new applicants
- advising prospective and admitted students
- serving as the department's Slate lead and supporting the graduate admissions cycle
- creating and executing communication plans and developing materials to support admissions and advising
- evaluating recruiting and advising programs and efforts.
We seek a responsible colleague who works well independently and collaborates well within a team structure.

Responsibilities:

Develops and implements recruitment plans, organizes events, recruits and trains staff and volunteers, evaluates admissions applications, and represents the institution to prospective graduate program students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, diverse student body.
  • 30% Counsels prospective and admitted graduate students on educational planning and career opportunities
  • 30% Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications for admission to a graduate program according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution
  • 5% Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 10% Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
  • 5% Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
  • 5% Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission

Education:

Required:
Bachelor's degree in student affairs administration, higher education, or a related field.
Preferred:
Master's degree in similar or related fields.

Qualifications:

Required:
- A minimum of 2 years of previous relevant professional experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, and support in higher education settings.
- Highly organized, thorough, detail-oriented work style, with strong time and task management skills.
- Promoting a positive, respectful, and socially just work and learning environment.
- Ability to work independently and contribute meaningfully to a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to give presentations to students, communicating with applicants and students, and working with campus partners.
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to adapt and learn new software/platforms.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of college recruitment cycle and best practices in recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students
Experience developing and executing recruitment, outreach, and/or enrollment strategies geared toward college students.
- Experience using systems involved in Academic Advising, Admissions, Academic Progress Tracking, and Scholarships or can easily learn computer application systems.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead and work with students, staff, and faculty to effectively advance department goals.
- Strong computer skills.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $42,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $42,000 - $56,300 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurances and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.
