The Office of Academic & Career Success (OACS) seeks a collaborative, organized, and creative communications leader who is committed to student and staff success and inclusion. The Communications Director is responsible for the leadership and coordination of communications produced and distributed by OACS. Audiences for these communications include, but are not limited to, UW-Madison advisors, career services professionals, learning support staff, as well as undergraduate students, their parents, and family members.
This position will collaborate with members of the OACS team to assess needs of all communities and prioritize, delegate and execute the strategic communications to help achieve the varied goals within the office. The Communications Director position also supervises two Communications Coordinators and leads a gathering of the OACS communications professionals in order to support one another in professional development and coordination.
This position reports to the OACS Director for Training and Community Development. The Office of Academic & Career Success (OACS) was created in 2011 and serves UW-Madison students and staff; supporting centralized advising, career services, and learning support functions. This is done through inclusive and innovative support of staff wellbeing and success, as well as advising, career development, and learning support services for students. OACS is responsible for training, communication, assessment, advocacy, and technology servicing for campus-wide advising, career services, and learning support communities. OACS also houses units that provide direct advising, career services, and learning support for undergraduate students. These units are: Cross-College Advising Service (CCAS), Career Exploration Center (CEC), Pre-Professional Advising (Centers for Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising), Undergraduate Academic Awards Office, Greater University Tutoring Service (GUTS), and the Office of Online Student Success.
The Office of Academic & Career Success (OACS) is part of the Division for Teaching and Learning (DTL) along with the: Center for Teaching, Learning and Mentoring (CTLM), the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE), the Rebecca M. Blank Center for Campus History (CCH), Indigenous Education/Our Shared Future, the Morgridge Center for Public Service, and the Student Learning Assessment (SLA) office.

Bachelor's Degree
Required Qualifications: Your application materials should directly address your experience with the required qualifications.
-At least 3 years of professional experience with communications-related work
-Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic communication initiatives for various audiences
-Experience with varied communications tools, including tools for email marketing, website content management, and graphic design, with a proven ability to quickly learn new skills. Tools can include but are not limited to: WordPress and Eloqua
-Experience taking initiative and independently managing, prioritizing, and delegating multiple projects and priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in supervision
-Experience working in team environments, with an appreciation for varied perspectives of colleagues
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to speak to various audiences
-Ability to ask good questions and gain feedback from colleagues and community members

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

The minimum starting salary for the position is $80,000, but is negotiable based on qualifications.
