University of Wisconsin–Madison is Hiring a CADD Technician Near Madison, WI

Job Summary:

The College of Engineering (CoE) consists of nine academic departments and 40 research centers, which along with the Dean's Office, has 2800 faculty, academic staff, university staff, employees in training, graduate, and undergraduate employees. It has an annual operating budget of $215M from multiple funding sources. The College has nine buildings totaling approximately 820,045 square feet from which it operates its classroom instruction, instructional and research laboratories, and administrative offices.
This position will work within the college's facility group and work closely with the staff in this group. It will also work with Facilities Planning and Management, vendors, faculty, staff, and students to ensure that projects are being executed as specified. It will have a heavy focus in CADD specific to supporting the needs of project design and maintaining college CADD standards. A portion of time will be spent supporting projects in various capacities. Design support will include following college standards for procurement of Fixtures, Furnishing and Equipment (FF&E). Finally, the position will collaborate with other groups within the CoE to include Safety, Building Managers, Department Administrators, Lab Managers, etc. This position reports to the Associate Director for Facilities. This position has the potential for future growth and advancement with successful progression of job tasks.

Responsibilities:Assists in the development and maintenance of the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system, projects, and documentation related to campus facilities.
  • 15% Maintains all campus master CADD documents and records used across campus related to current and previous physical facilities
  • 20% Assists in managing complex construction projects by assisting in the preparation of capital budgeting documentation, project drawings, and specifications for selected delegated state and facilities management projects
  • 10% Develops and maintains CADD standard office models
  • 5% Maintains CADD and engineering software contracts and licensing
  • 30% Performs other duties as assigned in support of current projects
  • 10% Measure/Documentation of existing spaces
  • 10% Administrative duties including but not limited to purchase requisition assistance, move coordination, assistance with general office tasks

Education:

Preferred

Qualifications:

2 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
* Proficient with AutoCAD required.
* Proficient with Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) preferred.
* Ability to work independently, as well as function effectively in a team and with a diverse group of people, and an interest ingrowing in the position and with the projects.
* Must be a team player with a willingness to learn, effectively and efficiently using time and resources allocated to complete tasks, is punctual and meets deadlines, effectively prioritizes task at hand to meet expectations.
* This person must demonstrate strong service and organizational skills, able and consistent in providing professional, effective, and courteous written and verbal communications.
* Must be detail and service oriented, a good problem solver who will seek creative and complete resolution to problems.
