Job Summary

This position is a part-time position working a total of 19 hours per week providing custodial services support for university facilities on the 2nd Shift, Mon. - Fri. 1:30PM - 10:00PM. Performs a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of classroom buildings, residence halls, offices, athletic facilities, dining halls, or other university buildings. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating cleaning equipment, and assisting Custodial Lead and Supervisor in delivering large quantities of housekeeping supplies. Duties may include performing housekeeping and floor maintenance tasks, operating laundry service machines, and performing special cleaning duties. Responsible for becoming familiar with all buildings and being receptive to additional assignments. May complete special project work such as pressure washing, cleaning light fixtures or windows using a scissor lift or ladder. Employee demonstrates an understanding of and maintains conditions that ensure a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Works special events (varied hours and weekends) with minimal supervision. Recognizes and follows prescribed safety procedures and regulations. Identifies and obtains required tools, equipment, materials, and supplies to do the job.

Responsibilities

Basic Cleaning
Performs basic cleaning (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, vacuuming, and/or replenishing supplies/products) to keep assigned working areas in a clean and orderly condition. Cleans the interior and exterior of buildings, using the appropriate materials. Maintains proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the assigned storage areas. Operates cleaning equipment such as buffers, extractors, pressure washers, walk behinds, scissor lifts and ride-on scrubbers. Works with others to keep vehicles and employee work areas clean and orderly.
Cleaning Projects
Works special events (varied hours and weekends) with minimal supervision and determines the necessary tasks to be performed. Responds to emergency needs such as spills, toilet overflows, water leaks, and other duties as assigned. Assists Custodial Lead and Supervisor in delivering custodial supplies to buildings and collecting trash/recycling.
Safety Procedures
Recognizes and follows prescribed safety procedures and regulations. Identifies and obtains required tools, equipment, materials, and supplies needed to perform the job.
Training
Participates in department-provided training and learning opportunities to develop work-related skills and abilities. Completes all required training on a timely basis

Required Qualifications

Required Education
High School Diploma/GED

Required Experience
Some high school classes require: along with Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and materials. Understand and comply with safety regulations and handling hazardous materials in the performance of job duties (i.e. OSHA, EPA). A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Experience
Six months' experience working in custodial or environmental services in a school or hospital setting. Basic knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings. Basic knowledge of custodial services, practices, techniques, and procedures. Valid driver's license.

Proposed Salary

$15.37 per Hour paid on a Bi-Weekly Basis.

Communicate with fellow workers in a manner that allows work to be completed efficiently and effectively at a high standard.

Abilities
Ability to perform physical labor tasks for extended periods. Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools while performing technical tasks with an eye for detail.
