The UW Medical Center - Northwest Social Work Departmenthas an outstanding opportunity for aSocial Work Managerto join us in our newCenter for Behavioral Health and Learningbuilding.This position will also oversee Social Work staff within the Emergency Department.
WORK SCHEDULE
• 40 hours per week
• Monday – Friday
• Rotating/Variable Shift
The anticipated start date for this position is February 2024. The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning will open to patients in spring 2024.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
• Development of staffing, skill-building, team building and implementation of therapeutic programming
• Program development and continued process improvements of Behavioral Health and Social Work services in the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning and Emergency Department at UWMC Northwest
• Provide expert behavioral health assessment, interventions, and advocacy for patients in acute distress, including those on Long Term Civil Commitment
ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING
The newCenter for Behavioral Health and Learning, opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as a key representative for the Social Work and Care Coordination department in interdisciplinary and community collaborations
• Provide leadership and supervision of clinical staff, program and policy development and monitoring, and quality improvement activities
• Manage personnel responsibilities including hiring processes and responsibility for orientation of assigned supervisees and ongoing performance evaluation
• Facilitate program planning, monitoring, and reporting, including overseeing workgroups and projects
• Champion fair resolution of staff/team conflicts, particularly in politically or culturally driven matters or situations arising out of personality/work approach differences
Strong candidates will have expertise in Washington State behavioral health regulatory standards, strong program development experience and prior Emergency Department experience.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
• Current active license or within 90 days of hire one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington must be obtained:
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
• Must meet WA State Department of Health criteria to be an “approved supervisor” for clinical supervision of provisionally licensed social workers.
• Five years full-time professional Social Work experience in a health care delivery system OR equivalent education/experience. Two years of this experience must have been in a health care setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle a fluctuating workload.
• Ability to act independently, utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
