UW Medicine Chargemaster Operations has an outstanding opportunity for a Pricing Analyst.Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Chargemaster Operations, this individual will ensure rational and defensible pricing for all hospital services and performs assessments of affiliate prices compared to the other local healthcare providers and industry standards. The Pricing Analyst recommends price-setting methodologies and incorporates all factors impacting hospital price-setting, including market conditions, costs of patient care, governmental payment rates, local demographic factors, new technology costs, local standards for patient care, local economic conditions and hospital financial condition, among others.

  • REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/related field AND at least six (6) years of hospital pricing and/or contracting experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
    DESIRED:
  • MBA or CPA desired
  • Comprehensive knowledge of complex federal and state laws and regulations affecting institutional healthcare providers
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare operations continuum, and Finance and Revenue Cycle processes
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with experience presenting to all levels of a health system
  • Knowledgeable in database computer applications and be able to synthesize and summarize data. Experience in process improvement and ability to identify and minimize process variation. Demonstrated ability in process improvement, system standard design, and implementation.
  • Expertise in financial management and health care reporting, specifically as it relates to CDM / EAP pricing and net revenue analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the charge development process and the interrelationship of cost accounting, cost management, and related functions
  • Understands charging processes
  • Knowledgeable of the hospital financial systems, A/R systems, and the CDM / EAP role within such systems
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with contractual allowances and third party settlements to ensure financial integrity at the facility level
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and prepare position papers on pricing issues, and to effectively communicate by written and oral means
  • Engage in active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, understand points being made, and ask questions as appropriate
  • Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of opposing party presentations and to develop alternative and creative solutions or approaches to problems
  • Demonstrated ability to train and coach staff to support an effective and high performing team
