Hall Health is the University of Washington’s student health center and is seeking a Physician-Womens Health Clinic to provide leadership of the OB/Gyn clinical unit.Reporting to the Chief of Clinical Services, this position works independently in the diagnosis and treatment of patients at Hall Health Center, and contributes in a leadership role, as a Unit Head or a Primary Care Team Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates leadership excellence in the following areas:
  • Aligns unit initiatives with HHC mission, goals, and values.
    Communicates effectively and respectfully with individuals and groups.
  • Contributes to positive working relationships and collaborative teamwork with all disciplines and units.
  • Works collaboratively with other unit heads to identify and pursue aligned strategies to improve medical quality.
  • Fosters unit innovation.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to unit providers and staff.
  • Earns the trust and respect of coworkers and customers through consistent honesty, forthrightness, and professionalism.
  • Provides leadership for attaining excellence in the ongoing effective operation of the unit including assessment and improvement of the quality of unit activities and integration of these activities into the overall functioning of HHC.
  • Provides leadership and assures that the quality of medical care is monitored, evaluated, and improved.
  • Assures adherence with HHC policies and procedures.
  • Assists HHC administration in assuring that HHC policies and procedures support accreditation standards (e.g., AAAHC, DOH).
  • Actively participates in HHC governance, guiding development of clinical practice policies
  • Participates in >80% of scheduled clinical council meetings.
  • Leads unit meetings at least monthly.
  • Oversees the clinical program of his or her unit and promotes a culture of patient safety and quality improvement by policy, practice, and personal example
  • Develops, implements, and annually reviews unit quality plan which is aligned with HHC goals.
  • Provides leadership and takes responsibility for assuring that outcomes of clinical care are monitored, evaluated, and improved.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving the unit's clinical and financial outcomes and to communicate proposals regarding these opportunities to HHC administration.
  • Develops and implements unit access management plans.
  • Designs and implements cost-effectiveness programs.
  • Monitors and responds to patient satisfaction.
  • Reviews the professional performance of all providers with clinical privileges in his or her unit.
  • Recommends criteria for clinical competence for unit members that are relevant to the training, credentials, expertise, and care provided by individual unit members.
  • Uses both individual performance data and aggregate data to determine competence of unit providers.
  • Fosters an environment that makes patient safety everyone's responsibility
  • Assists in review of unexpected or potentially avoidable morbidity using quality improvement and risk management protocols.
  • Reviews selected cases from unit which have been identified as requiring an in-depth review, and assisting in generating and implementing an action plan based on the findings from the review.

    Additional duties:
  • All elements of the Physician 2 or Physician Assistant, or ARNP duties.
  • Assumes a leadership role in one of the Health Center clinical units by supervising and instructing other health care providers and support staff.
  • Assures staffing patterns, clinical services, and clinic hours in his/her clinical unit that support the Health Center's official hours of operation and meet patient flow demands.
  • Conducts personnel performance reviews and initiates actions consistent with University of Washington employment policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and presents statistical reports and assessments on individual and group schedules, assigned duties, space, and productivity within the work unit.
  • Communicates short term and long term needs of the clinical unit to the appropriate liaison in HHC Administration.
  • Serves as a provider consultant and shows exceptional clinical expertise as measured by the performance evaluation process.
  • Contributes to staff conferences and continuing medical/nursing education.
  • Performs outreach activities and public relations work.
  • Develops a working relationship with the University and private sector medical and nursing community.
  • May perform other related administrative duties as requested.
    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed in the State of Washington as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Physician's Assistant (PA), or Physician (MD/DO).
  • Meets credentialing requirements for licensing and certification in their specialty and meets Washington State CME requirements.
  • Current US Government Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
  • Two years of experience within the organization or five years in relevant setting. Meets HHC credentialing requirements.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
