HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER'S CENTRAL PROCESSING has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, temporary/hourly STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN / HOSPITAL CENTRAL SERVICES TECHNICIAN 2. This individual will be responsible for the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and assembly of complex surgical instrument arrangements.

WHAT YOU BRING:
REQUIRED:
Two years of experience as a Hospital Central Service Technician Trainee or equivalent or equivalent education/experience.
DESIRED:
IAHCSMM certification
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Pick up and transport soiled instruments, case carts, basins, respiratory items and patient equipment from all patient care areas to the decontamination area for reprocessing.
Assemble and set up patient equipment such as IV pumps, vacuum regulators (wall suction), chest pumps, hyper/hypothermia units; test and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
Load and operate semi-automatic cart washer to clean case carts, utility carts, patient chairs, etc.
Perform, analyze, and document sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical and biological indicators; take appropriate action for abnormal results.
Load autoclave carts and sterilize surgical instrument sets and respiratory equipment, through terminal sterilization using either steam or sterrad sterilization.
Inventory shelf level of processed items; rotate trays and products to accommodate inventory movement before shelf-life expiration dates; remove outdated trays and products from shelves.
Load and unload linen carts for steam sterilization.
Unload autoclave carts and place sterile instruments and linens in proper location in case cart area.
Decontaminate all soiled instruments according to Procedure and Policy standard.
Inspect, test, and assemble, package based on the guidelines.
Verify correct sterilization cycles by document with signature on the sterilizer printout.
Scan sterile peel pack and trays and stock to shelf.
Perform related duties as required.
