The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, manage and oversee the operations of the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) Program including full responsibility for annual program revenue budge over $4.0 million and expenses over $1.8 million. MSIS is a self-sustaining graduate degree program aimed at developing the decision-making skills of business leaders in information systems management. The program accepts students from the Foster undergraduate business program as well as applicants from other universities and programs. The Director is responsible for developing and outlining program goals, designing strategies that accelerate the development of students as future leaders, partnering with faculty leadership to oversee execution of the curriculum, and managing key program support functions on a day-to-day basis. The Director is responsible for quality assurance of all non-curricular support services developed for the current and future students, advising current and prospective students, handling internal and external communications and marketing, overseeing, and managing program-appropriate events, working closely with the faculty director, teaching faculty, and advisory board, and supervising staff. The Director reports to the Associate Dean for Masters Program at the Foster School of Business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial and Strategic Management - 50%
• Plan, direct, manage. and oversee total operations of the MSIS Program including full responsibility for an annual expense budget over $1.8 million.
• Develop, oversee and present the annual budget to the Foster Budget Committee.
• Prepare responses to budget vs. actuals financial reports for the program quarterly and/or as needed.
• Develop the strategic direction of the MSIS Program in alignment with the purpose and values of the Foster School of Business.
• Establish multi-year strategic and tactical plans to maintain and expand program excellence, enhance the student experience, and ensure program relevancy in the developing marketplace information management talent.
• Provide clear and effective leadership to achieve strategic goals.
• Partner with the faculty director to support the work of the program advisory board.
• Develop, implement, and oversee guidelines and policies relating to the program.
• Build and strengthen strategic relationships with the business community and information systems organizations.
Program Development and Management - 30%
• Conduct ongoing holistic evaluation of program performance including program marketing/recruiting/admissions, curriculum execution by faculty, co-curricular services, and, in partnership with E&Y Career Center staff, graduate/alumni career outcomes.
• Partner with internal and cross-functional teams to achieve key performance indicators for student outcomes and enrollment growth.
• Collaborate with the faculty director to ensure curricular excellence, an inclusive and compelling student learning experience, and a positive and cohesive teaching environment for faculty.
• Recommend and implement new initiatives and services.
• Monitor and report to the faculty director student satisfaction with and progress in the academic experience. Recommend action in response to feedback received.
• Manage and coordinate all MSIS Program events.
• Act as a key administrative representative of MSIS to Foster School faculty and staff colleagues.
• Manage MSIS Program web properties, inclusive of public-, student prospect-, applicant-, alumni-, and business community-facing sites.
• Develop, implement, and oversee guidelines and polices relating to the MSIS Program.
• Consult the faculty director regarding issues where there's no clear direction or policy guidelines.
• Advise and assist students and alumni as needed.
• Provide initial counselling for academic matters and refer students to the faculty director or other Foster and UW administration on an as-needed basis.
Supervision - 20%
• Lead, coach, develop, mentor, and supervise team of four full time roles as well as hourly and student employees.
• Organize professional development plans for full time to goals and objectives of program and staff growth.
• Develop and implement effective operating policies, procedures, and systems for the team.
• Hire staff, evaluate job performance, and take corrective action if performance is not acceptable
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Assign tasks to and oversee work done by 4-full time staff, student assistants, and temporary employees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in Business, Public Administration, Education or related field and a minimum of four years leadership experience in a complex academic setting.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Excellent communication skills.
DESIRED:
• Experience managing relevant aspects of a fee-based Masters program in marketing/recruiting/admissions, student affairs, and program operations.
