University of the Pacific is Hiring a Program Advisor Near Stockton, CA
Primary Purpose:
Under the general direction of the SUCCESS TRIO Program Director, the Program Advisor oversees a caseload of 100 participants from University of the Pacific. The Program Advisor provides ongoing guidance, support, and resources to participants from first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities with retention, graduation, and graduate school assistance.
This is a full-time, 11 month position with guaranteed funding through the grant cycle ending on 8/31/2025.
Essential Functions:
Assist with recruiting, selection, and recommending of participants that meet eligibility requirements to program Director.
Plan and present career, financial aid, economic literacy, and graduate program workshops and related services.
Monitor student academic performance and maintain appropriate electronic and written documentation in student folders.
Assist with planning of and attend program events, some of which will be outside of the normal workday.
Assessment and data collection to ensure meeting Department of Education projects goals and objectives.
Academic advising and assisting with postsecondary course selection, graduate school admissions, and financial aid process.
Maintains records of participant caseload and provides documented services and activities, including referrals for accommodating students with disabilities.
Monitors and keeps track of the tutoring program and budget.
Recruit, hire, train, and, supervise program tutors and assistants.
Ensures compliance with University and federal regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported them.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in education, counseling, or related field.
Two (2) years of experience working in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree.
Advanced knowledge of student tutoring.
Knowledge in areas of academic advising, financial aid, course scheduling, student counseling and career program planning and development.
Demonstrated sensitivity to the special needs of eligible students.
Demonstrated knowledge of staff hiring and training, program planning, and effective organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of or experience working with budget and payroll matters.
Proficient computer skills and working knowledge using software applications.
Professional or personal experiences in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting Participants.
Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Work performed during standard business hours.
Valid drivers license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the Universitys fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
