Primary Purpose Responsible for physical appearance of University grounds by mowing, raking, planting, fertilizing, trimming, or watering.

Uses mowers, rakes, or other hand and power tools typically used in gardening. Essential Functions

• Mows, trims, edges and sweeps university lawns and grounds.
• Waters fields and grounds as directed.
• Performs tree and shrub maintenance to include planting, trimming and fertilizing.
• Collects trash and removes in appropriate containers.
• Performs minor repair of equipment.
• Assists with set-up and tear-down of outdoor stages, tarps, tables and chairs.
• Identifies maintenance or repair need and reports to appropriate personnel.
• Assists in special construction projects as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Working knowledge of lawn maintenance, and of lawn maintenance equipment use and repair.

Work is performed primarily outdoors with exposure to various temperatures and weather elements. Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and / or loud noises.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Repetitive use of hands.

Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business.
