Purpose

The Managing Director of MBA Career Education and Coaching is a senior leadership role on the McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations team. The key purpose of this position is to lead our career education and coaching teams for our full-time and working professional MBA programs (Full-time, Evening, Executive, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Houston MBA programs) with collaborative leadership, strategic vision for the team in career coaching and education, and knowledge of industry and market trends.

Responsibilities
  • Career coaching strategy: Lead the future of McCombs MBA career coaching strategy, customized based on student population and need for Texas McCombs MBA programs. Guide the directors of this team on how to develop and train their teams of career consultants/coaches with best practices across MBA programs. Enhance coaching strategy based on how the market has shifted in talent assessment methodologies and accelerate the team's knowledge of technical interviewing expertise.
  • Career education transformation: Transform career programming content & delivery across all Texas McCombs, incorporating designing thinking, varied learning techniques and best practices from corporate sectors. Anticipate and capitalize on trends and emerging developments in global marketplace. Lead career curriculum design and evolution across all programs. Customize programming across all McCombs MBA programs in partnership with the Managing Director of Undergraduate and Specialty Masters programs. Identify and evaluate career education delivery methods to address evolving student learning needs. Partner with faculty and centers on curriculum and experiential learning.
  • Industry trends & market knowledge: Anticipate and capitalize on trends and emerging developments in global marketplace. Ensure that the team is innovative and nimble in response to market changes and employment trends including current market disruptions, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other factors changing the nature of work. Translate market knowledge into career coaching strategy & tactics. Partner closely with Managing Director of McCombs Employer Recruiting and industry experts on infusing market trends in curriculum content development as well as MBA Program Office leadership to ensure alignment with MBA program curricular and co-curricular goals.
  • Inspiring leadership and support of dedicated staff: Lead a team of Directors and staff who are dedicated and committed to transforming the student experience and supporting students in navigating their careers across our MBA programs. Ensure that adequate systems and resources are available to manage growth and development of staff. Foster an environment where staff are recognized as innovative and productive members of Texas McCombs community. Encourage collaboration, innovation,ownership and accountability.
  • Operations and Analytics: Develop scalable systems, processes, and KPI Scorecards to understand career coaching trends, student segmentation, and coaching effectiveness. Lead planning, policy, and assessment of the unit's outcomes related to career development, including student satisfaction. Develop strategic relationships with campus resources that support student employment. Partner with Managing Director of Undergraduate and Specialty Masters programs on analyzing employment outcomes and developing marketing materials.
Required Qualifications
  • Master degree in business, education, or a related field and 7 years of related experience.
  • Experienced leader with a proven track record of success in leadership positions within complex, multi-constituent, mission-driven organizations.
  • Extensive experience in career education and coaching and/or employer recruiting focused on strategy, innovation, and leading large teams.
  • Proven success scaling career management teams and exceeding targets and goals.
  • Ability to build partnerships across organizations.
  • Model transformational leadership by providing vision and outside-in perspectives, functional expertise, outstanding service and collaboration, and effective organizational and strategic acumen in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective developer of people who can manage a large and complex team and portfolio of projects and issues and rapidly assess situations with multiple outcomes and consequences. Flexible problem-solver with the ability to create or influence win-win outcomes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate difficult and complex matters effectively to a range of audiences and skill levels.
  • Ability to be nimble and flexible with change.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and/or other remote communication technologies as well as webinars.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7 years of leading teams in career coaching & education, employer recruiting, executive coaching, consulting, or business planning in the higher education or corporate sector.
  • Strong analytical background or work experiences.
  • Entrepreneurial leader who can form alignment around the pursuit of important goals or the response to substantial challenges; apply strong organizational, leadership, and management skills in order to be an effective agent of change to enhance our team and school's mission.
  • Proven success in collaborating with key constituents on developing career education and coaching programming across multiple university or college programs.
Salary Range

$120,000 depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Works in standard office conditions with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Requires flexibility for weekend/evening events and programming.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. This position is not eligible for sponsorship of work visas.
  • This is an Austin, TX-based position and is eligible for hybrid work.
