This position is located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.

Seeking a researcher with a background in environmental monitoring, change detection, field measurement of springs, and soil moisture.

• Maintain field stations that measure environmental conditions across Texas, communicate with landowners and related collaborators in Texas and elsewhere, conduct research in and use of data manipulation tools.

• Use GIS, remote sensing, image analysis, statistical tools, management of large datasets, and other tools to develop usable data products. Apply these products to solving water resource questions in Texas and apply them elsewhere when possible and appropriate.

• Collaborate with team members on program development and fund raising.

• Present research results in peer-reviewed articles and reports, and in oral and poster formats at local and national meetings, and to sponsors and other interested groups.;

A Ph.D. degree and 2 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 4 years of related experience, in the fields of environmental science, data analytics, such as statistics and algorithm development, image analysis, and GIS. Expertise in scripting languages, like Python, R, Matlab, or similar. Knowledge in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology/Hydrology or related field. Demonstrated ability and interest to work within an integrated team of scientists, engineers, and economists in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

More than the minimum required years of experience. Experience and ability to conduct field work. Familiarity with basic concepts in fluid flow and environmental physics. Expertise in Google Earth Engine, satellite remote sensing. Working knowledge in machine and/or deep learning techniques. Knowledge of ecology and biology, especially with respect to habitat designations.

$78,000 depending on qualifications
