Job Summary
Assistance with the Student Success Program at the College of Nursing (off-campus and in-seat students). Provides academic support for Bachelor of Science in NursingStudents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a resource for faculty dealing with student issues.
  • Serve as a resource for individual students related to academic and personal issues.
  • Assist with test-taking skills, reviews and prep sessions.
  • Coordinate the Peer Mentor program.
  • Provide end-of-program testing preparation and math remediation for students.
  • Instruct Student Success course for at-risk students.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in nursing with two to five (2 to 5) years of teaching experience in nursing.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Skilled classroom teacher.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree.
  • Experience with counseling and coaching students.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with learners who have specific needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions to problems and opportunities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in specific subject matter of upper-division clinical nursing courses.
Other Requirements
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within an academic unit.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
