THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Medical Tech Assistant I/CMA provides administrative and clinical assistance to residents and faculty who are providing care in the Occupational Medicine practice. This position assists in providing quality care to Occupational Medicine patients and clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Obtains vitals, brief health history, and triages according to clinical protocols.
* Records vaccines, work status, referrals, and schedules follow-up appointments.
* Assists physician with minor surgeries and procedures and processes minor lab tests.
* Reviews charts and dictation for physician accuracy.
* Manages patient records, communicates with patients, and enters client data.
* Performs patient diagnostic testing.
* Provides patient education.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience. (Experience in Occupational Medicine is preferred.)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), LPN or Certified Occupational Health Nurse. Certification or Registration is required for MA and License required for LPN. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Accurate maintenance of medical records.
* Ability to perform venipuncture and administer injections.
* Ability to operate clinical equipment to perform lab testing procedures.
* Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and follow multiple Federal and State regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is occasionally required to work weekends and evenings.
