The Saban Research Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, seeks to hire an outstanding neuroscientist at the rank of assistant professor (non-tenure track) who has experience investigating mechanisms mediating gene-environment interactions that influence structural and functional outcomes in brain circuits. A particular emphasis should be on determining the impact of genetic background on the development social and emotional behaviors. Candidate will investigate phenotypic heterogeneity using genetic reference panel animal models, and will incorporate behavioral, physiological and molecular technical strategies in their research program.
Applicants should have an outstanding record of research and scholarly accomplishments and a demonstrated capacity and desire to establish collaborations across disciplines. Those candidates with a strong interest in translational neuroscience are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Submit a brief cover letter, curriculum vitae, a research plan of no more than 2 pages, and 3 letters of recommendation to be submitted by candidate's references.
The annual base salary range for this position is $81,811-$235,856. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is a nonprofit institution that provides pediatric health care to tens of thousands of children annually. The Saban Research Institute (TSRI) is a nationally recognized pediatric research enterprise that houses basic, translational and clinical research programs in the brain sciences and neurodevelopmental disorders, oncology, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases, stem cells and developmental biology, infectious diseases and metabolism.
