Under the direction of the Emergency Manager the Special Events/ Emergency Planner coordinates the planning of, response to, and preparedness for emergency incidents and events at the University. This position will also be responsible for coordinating pre-season and gameday law enforcement and first response activities for football, basketball, and baseball, and incorporating incident management principles into event operations.

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience , or high school diploma and 6 years related program experience.

Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Must possess a high level of professionalism and ability to work independently or in a team environment. Must demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and attention to detail. Must have a strong operational knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Coordinates the design, implementation, and evaluation of plans related to special events and emergency management for the Division and university, respectively. Creates and maintains standard operating procedures relating to special events. Furnishes regular reports to the Emergency Manager on those plans

Creates and maintains emergency plans for athletic and special event venues under the direction of the Emergency Manager. Coordinates with University and external partners to ensure the plan’s compliance with current procedures and tactics. Contacts other entities and performs other research related to determination of best practices

Advises and assists in creating, coordinating, and conducting special event and emergency preparedness activities, exercises, trainings, and presentations. Incorporates feedback for future activities, exercises, trainings, and presentations.

Establishes and maintains working relationships with campus and community partners to develop, implement, and maintain university emergency plans and Division special event plans.

Assists with special projects as assigned by the Emergency Manager and Administration Bureau Commander. Functions as a project team leader or project manager in administrative projects regarding the Division. Regularly furnishes reports of project activity to Emergency Manager and Administration Bureau Commander.
