Interlibrary Loan Specialist

Spartanburg, SC
The Interlibrary Loan Specialist coordinates worldwide borrowing, lending, and digital document delivery. Provides Library circulation services. Provides ready reference services in absence of professional staff. Following established guidelines, uses initiative and work experience to maintain workflow. When called upon to do so, maintains safety and security of the library.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 1 year of library experience. Successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma and 2 years library experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Public service and computer skills and aptitude. Ability to assist students and faculty. A thorough understanding of library procedure and organization is essential. Able to communicate clearly orally as well as in writing. Able to perform detailed, often repetitive work, and to reason clearly.

Evaluates and processes ILL borrowing requests from Upstate patrons and directs digital and physical delivery of requested materials. Evaluates and processes ILL lending requests, handles digitization and transmission of electronically requested items, handles packaging and delivery of physical materials, and answers questions from borrowing libraries regarding lent items. Regularly communicates with colleagues from other libraries.
