The Johnson College of Business and Economics at the University of South Carolina Upstate seeks a dedicated and student-focused educator to join our faculty as Instructor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position with a start date of August 16, 2024. The selected candidate will teach a variety of logistics and/or supply chain management courses, advise students, engage with industry and business communities, contribute to the program’s enrollment growth, and provide service to the program, college and university. The selected candidate will also help to identify and inform the college of work-force gaps in order to produce career-ready graduates.
Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.
The University of South Carolina Upstate is a comprehensive public university and a senior institution of the University of South Carolina. The AACSB accredited Johnson College of Business and Economics currently awards a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Accounting, Economics/Finance, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Management, Marketing, and a Master of Science in Business Analytics. The College also offers minors in Business Administration, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Economics as well as a dual program with Landshut University in Germany. The Johnson College is located in a state-of-the-art 60,000 sq. ft. facility in downtown Spartanburg. Required Education and Experience
Masters degree in Supply Chain Management or related area and at least 5 years of industry experience OR a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related area and at least 7 years of industry experience by the start date of the appointment is required. A successful background check is required.
Expertise in at least one of the following supply chain areas is required:
  • SAP technology
  • Supply chain analytics
  • Operation excellence and process improvement
  • Purchasing and supply management
  • Supply chain risk management
  • Distribution and warehouse management
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:
  • Ph.D. or DBA in Supply Chain Management or related field with combined industry and academic experience totaling at least 10 years
  • Relevant senior level industry experience of at least 10 years
  • At least one year of teaching experience at the university level
  • Professional or academic background in aerospace, logistics services, ecommerce, healthcare, outdoor recreation, or manufacturing industry
