Responsibilities

Assists the Radiologic Technologists in performing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures by using standard department protocols, isolation precaustions and/or sterile technique; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital and departmental policies including confidentiality; exhibits an acceptable work ethic as evidenced by regular and prompt attendance, as well as following all timekeeping/ clocking policies; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, positioning and transferring patients without assistance or with assistance when needed for patient safety, moving equipment/supplies necessary to perform essential function; demonstrates CPR according to American Heart Association standards; works assigned schedule; knowledge of all imaging equipment, including but not limited to radiology digital fluoro and diagnostic equipment, including c-arms. Demonstrates proper positioning for all exams, appropriately labels patient position to reflect correct orientation of images with use of markers; adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation; provides radiation protection to patient, family, staff and self, according to prescribed radiation safety standards; recognizes emergency situations and initiates code procedures as needed; performs patient assessment and screening, such as allergies, potential drug interactions, and lab requirements, within the scope of practice; maintains aseptic or sterile technique, as appropriate, when performing invasive procedures; directly assists the Radiologic Technologist during procedures; assists with c-arm procedures in OR as well as ancillary areas such as GI lab or ICU; assists all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures including portable examinations as assigned; reviews CPOE and written orders checking for special instructions from physicians; accurately critiques images with Radiologic Technologist to determine diagnostic quality and adjusts factors if imaging is to be repeated; adheres to established protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements; pleasantly greets patient, confirming identity using two identifiers and introducing oneself; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and family, if present; performs visual preventive safety inspections of all equipment used and communicates problems to supervisor/assistant director/director; helps maintains necessary inventory of supplies, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items; maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the department; completes all aspects of a patients exam; protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and procedures; maintains professional and technical; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others, and improves the performance of the unit.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, current enrollment in an approved Radiologic Technology program.
