University of South Alabama Athletics is Hiring an Assistant athletic trainer Near Mobile, AL

Internal Number : Athletic Trainer I

This is responsible work participating in the development, coordination and administration of a comprehensive sports medicine program for NCAA Division I FBS Sun Belt Conference Football.

The employee will prepare the athletes for daily practices and games through conditioning and prevention of athletic injuries and development of rehabilitation programs.

  • This position allocates the employee to supervise student workers in athletic training. Supervision of team medical needs during participation, athletic contests, and team travel as directed by the athletic director / associate athletic director;
  • coordinates injury prevention and management, assists with the areas of concussion management, and sickle cell trait screening;

operates a variety of athletic training room equipment, to include medical modalities; maintains a daily record of treatments, injuries, and protects medical documents.

Reports To : Senior Athletic Trainer - Head Football ATC Sr. Associate Athletic Director

Supervises : Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer Student Workers for Sports Medicine

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :

  • Responsible to evaluate and approve work of graduate assistant athletic trainers, student workers, and undergraduate interns.
  • Responsible for training and supervision of graduate assistant athletic trainers, student assistant athletic trainers and in the sports medicine area
  • Assist with the development of sports medicine program for the University, including : injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, educational programs and counseling for student-athletes.
  • Provide athletic training services for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
  • Assist with the coordination and scheduling of preparticipation physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
  • Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
  • Administers a variety of advanced athletic training room rehabilitation.
  • Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medical program
  • Maintain daily records and documentation of injuries, treatments, and medical information of athletes.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training education curriculum, or appropriate

intercollegiate athletic experience with NATABOC certification. Master’s degree is equivalent to one year of experience

Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification,
