POSITION SUMMARY:
For Finger Lakes Children's Environmental Health Center (FLCEHC): Provides liaison support across required functional offices and/or individuals, families, social groups, service and other organizations in the local Rochester/Monroe County area in order to provide outreach and education with respect to environmental health concerns. Will elicit concerns from the local community and provide personal experience and insight into community needs. Will serve as direct resource to families in the community and share feedback with FLCEHC team. Provides information about family and community characteristics which assists in the planning and evaluation of FLCEHC services, as well as general planning and evaluation. TAR 5-10 hours/week.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently coordinate subject recruitment into study. This process involves; distributing information letters to potential study subjects and preparing enrollment packets. Position will be cross-trained to independently coordinate subject enrollment in the following 2 manners. Enrollment strategy 1 involves; contacting positional subjects by telephone to explain the study and request their participation, administering telephone surveys and scheduling enrollment appointments for a sample of those agreeing to participate. Enrollment strategy 2 involves; reviewing subject screening logs on a daily basis, mapping daily routes to potential subject homes, traveling to subject homes located throughout Monroe County to complete multiple enrollment appointments in a day, ensuring that subjects meet enrollment criteria, addressing subject questions and concerns regarding the study, and obtaining written informed consent. Collect data and prepare for analysis. This process involves; interviewing subjects and accurately recording subject responses, accurately collecting/labeling/storing nasal/throat swab specimens, and transporting specimens to lab. Contact medical practices utilized by subject to ascertain vaccination records. Review electronic medical records and abstract vaccination-related information from records. Travel to practices for chart review and information abstraction as needed. Collect, organize, and maintain completed subject enrollment files. Enter information into electronic databases. Collaborate with study personnel to review progress, discuss challenges, and strategize methods for improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Candidate must have deep roots or shared life experiences within the
  • Rochester community. Experience in working with an urban, underserved population affected by environmental health and justice issues is required.
  • Effective oral communication is required.
  • Works effectively with others and to accept responsibility for confidential and sensitive matters required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $16.50 - $21.45 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined byconsidering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
