SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Recruiting will plan and execute the School of Law’s recruitment programs consistent with industry best practices; develop and maintain relationships with current and potential employers; collaborate with employers to develop and implement marketing and recruiting strategies to meet their individual needs; manage recruiting systems and software platforms; train all constituents on recruiting tools; represent the School of Law and execute duties for local, regional and national consortia recruiting programs; collect, analyze and report data on employer and student engagement; train and manage student workers; and contribute to the mission and strategic goals of the Career Development Office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment Activities and Systems 

  • Plan and execute on-campus and virtual recruiting activities (e.g., interviews, resume collections, information sessions, etc.) using the appropriate platform(s) (e.g., LawQuest and FloRecruit), including communication with employer representatives, students, and School of Law staff and faculty.
  • Maintain data on recruitment efforts for communication with career development team and other internal constituents.
  • Support the Associate Dean in benchmarking recruiting best practices and the development of new processes, procedures, policies and metrics.
  • Develop, document, and regularly update standard operating procedures for recruiting activities.
  • Engage with professional associations (e.g., NALP, RARA, etc.) and in other activities to gain industry knowledge and operational best practices, as well as to develop relationships with career development professionals and employer recruiters.

Employer Development and Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain employer relationships, including with alumni and employer recruiters, and work to actively promote recruitment of our students.
  • Work with employers to build their brands in collaboration with career advisors; advise employers on marketing strategies and set expectations regarding applications, event participation, and student involvement.
  • Conduct research to develop an in-depth understanding of the opportunities available and recruiting practices employed by various types of employers seeking law students and graduates.
  • Seek employer feedback to assess the quality of our services and student performance in the recruiting process.
  • Collaborate with the career advising team to design programming and secure employer representatives to participate.

Data, Reporting, and Technology 

  • Recommend and complete process improvements, troubleshoot issues, and maximize use of recruiting platform(s) and related software, as well as develop and update standard operating procedures.
  • Develop reports and assemble and maintain data to support relationship development and management.
  • Use online recruiting platform(s) and related software to access and analyze employer and program data.

Supervision and Training 

  • Train employers, students, and staff on the use of recruiting platform(s) and related software.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student assistant(s) to support career development team, and specifically to assist with recruitment activities including job postings, employer research, and management of data in the online recruiting platform(s).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong work ethic and initiative, as well as effective organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, including the ability to work with diverse internal and external constituents; act with integrity, diplomacy, and tact; and handle confidential or sensitive situations and information with discretion.
  • Excellent relationship management skills to develop rapport among students, staff, University departments, alumni, employers, and guests of the University.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team while exhibiting strategic and innovative thinking, sound judgement and flexibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of career services (or recruiting activities) and current best practices, including job market trends, employer relations and recruitment methodologies, and application of technology in the delivery of services.
  • An understanding of legal education and the career options available to law school students and graduates.
  • Experience with internet-based career resources and software, including online recruiting platforms (e.g., LawQuest and FloRecruit); advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with other approved University software (e.g., Banner, Centralized Scheduling Service/Event Management System, Qualtrics, and Zoom) is a plus.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three or more years of progressive experience in a law school career development office, legal or other recruiting role, human resources department, and/or program management position.

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; may include periodic extended work hours and weekend assignments, as well as in-and-out of state travel

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $46,114.00 to $61,110.00 annually)
