Assistant Director, Employer Relations - 501941

SUMMARY:

As a member of the Employer Relations team, the Assistant Director, Employer Relations, will execute University of Richmond’s employer recruitment activities and systems; develop relationships with employers to increase recruiting opportunities; assemble, organize, and report quarterly and annual metrics to track employer and alumni engagement; supervise student assistant(s); and support implementation of the broader goals and strategic initiatives of Alumni and Career Services (ACS) and the Advancement Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment Activities and Systems 

  • Execute on-campus and virtual recruiting activities (e.g., interviews, office hours, information sessions and tables, etc.) and modules in the online recruiting platform (e.g., Symplicity, Handshake) and related software, including communication with employer representatives and students, development and organization of events and interview schedules, and consultation regarding necessary technology (e.g., video conferencing, teleconferencing, etc.).
  • Execute career fairs, including management of the career fair module on the online recruiting platform, communication with employer representatives, and coordination of the day-of activities, with support from the Project Manager, Career Services.
  • Maintain upcoming on-campus and virtual recruiting data in Excel-based spreadsheets for communication and promotion to career services staff and other internal constituents.
  • Support the Associate Director, Employer Relations in benchmarking on-campus and virtual recruiting best practices and the development of new processes, procedures, policies, and metrics.
  • Develop, document, and regularly update standard operating procedures for on-campus and virtual recruiting activities.
  • Adhere to all university rules, policies, regulations, and customer service expectations.
  • Engage with professional associations and other organizations to gain industry knowledge and operational best practices, as well as develop relationships with career services professionals and recruiters.

Employer Development and Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain employer relationships (including alumni, parents, and recruiters) and work to actively promote recruitment of our students.
  • Assist employers in building their brands on campus in collaboration with career advisors; advise employers on marketing strategies and set expectations for applicants, event participation, and student involvement; ensure adequate and creative marketing of employer postings and events in coordination with the Communications Manager, ACS.
  • Expand existing employer relationships through recruitment lifecycle and conduct outreach to prospective employers to establish new recruiting relationships, in alignment with employer development account management model.
  • Conduct industry research to develop in-depth understanding of the opportunities available and recruiting practices employed, as well as identify prospects within one or more industries.
  • Seek employer feedback to assess quality of our services and student performance in the recruiting process, including outcomes.
  • Collaborate with career advising team to design career education content and events, and secure organization representatives (including alumni, parents, and recruiters) to participate.
  • Participate in various local, state, regional, and national organizations to gain industry knowledge and operational best practices, as well as develop new recruiting relationships.

Data, Reporting, and Technology

  • Develop reports, as well as assemble and maintain data in Excel-based dashboard(s) to support quarterly and annual assessment and reporting; develop and maintain other report(s) as necessary for relationship development and management.
  • Coordinate data collection and management efforts in alignment with ACS and other University data management efforts to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Utilize online recruiting platform and related software, as well as customer relationship management platforms (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) used in other university departments to access and record alumni and employer data.
  • Recommend and complete process improvements, troubleshoot issues, and maximize use of modules within the online recruiting platform and related software, as well as develop or update standard operating procedures.

Supervision and Training 

  • Assist with the training of employers, students, and staff on the use of the online recruiting platform and related software.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student assistant(s) to support career fair and other recruitment activities, employer research, and management of data in the online recruiting platform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong work ethic and initiative, as well as effective organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, including the ability to work with diverse internal and external individuals; act with integrity, diplomacy, and tact; and handle confidential or sensitive situations and materials with discretion.
  • Excellent relationship management skills to develop rapport among students, staff, University departments, alumni, parents, employers, and guests of the University.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills, as well as analytical abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team; exhibit strategic and innovative thinking, sound judgement, and flexibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of career services (or recruiting activities) and current best practices, including job market trends, employer relations and recruitment methodologies, and application of technology in the delivery of services.
  • Experience with Internet-based career resources and software, including online recruiting platforms (e.g., Symplicity, Handshake); basic proficiency (intermediate preferred) with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with other approved University software (e.g., Banner, Centralized Scheduling Service/Event Management System, Qualtrics, Raiser’s Edge, and Zoom) is a plus.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred with focus in business (MBA), human resources, career coaching, education or other relevant area. Experience will be considered as a possible substitute for post-baccalaureate education.
  • One to three years of demonstrating progressive achievement and responsibility in the field of recruitment, human resources, higher education, career development, and/or program management.

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week; may include periodic extended work hours and weekend assignments, as
    well as in-and-out of state travel

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $46,114.00 to $61,110.00 annually)
