Job Description Summary
The Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center is seeking a project manager to lead the implementation of a multi-site pragmatic randomized clinical trial among seriously ill hospitalized patients. The mission of the PAIR Center is to generate high-quality evidence to advance healthcare policies and practices that improve the lives of all people affected by serious illness.
The project manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator to effectively operationalize the planned multi-site study in 6 hospitals at Penn Medicine.
Job Description
The project manager will work closely with the Principal Investigator to effectively operationalize the planned multi-site study in six hospitals across Penn Medicine. The project manager will coordinate with investigators at Penn, as well as research partners and clinicians at each hospital, to ensure the successful implementation of the study. Specifically, the project manager will: monitor study enrollment and protocol adherence; supervise research staff; communicate with data scientists and analysts regarding data processing efforts; analyze and report on study metrics (data safety, compliance, benchmarks for enrollment, adverse events, and finances); and contribute to manuscript writing. The project manager will be responsible for ensuring all study protocols are carried out consistently and appropriately across all clinical sites and ensuring that the project remains within scope, budget, and timeline.
Prior experience in health services research is required. This individual will preferably have experience working with patients with serious and chronic illnesses, experience conducting randomized trials, and prior experience collaborating with data managers and analysts. This individual will function independently in carrying out most responsibilities and must feel comfortable communicating regularly with multiple stakeholders throughout the health system. This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Kate Courtright.

With mentoring from the Principal Investigator, the Project Manager will take a leadership role in developing the team's research strategy and ensuring scientific integrity of the study design during implementation. His/her purview will stretch beyond implementation to significant contributions to progress reports, data analysis plans, manuscript development, and presentations. He/she will co-author manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, with a lead role on clinical trial protocol manuscripts. He/she will develop grant proposals and lead subprojects, as needed.

Qualifications
PM-A
Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
PM-B:
Master's degree and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
