Temporary Position
Weekdays 8:30am-1pm
No Holidays or On Call
This position is located at New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County) which is approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia. There is no public transportation to this location. You must have your own transportation.
Description
Under general supervision, perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies including preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, computer processing, displaying images, and maintaining a clean/safe work environment. The candidate will be expected to operate MR and collaborate with radiologists and technicians to perform routine and research scans on large animal patients.
Job Essentials
· Performs MRI examinations per department protocol. Exams will primarily involve musculoskeletal exams of equine patients.
· Understands cross-sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency. Large animal-specific knowledge is desired, but not required.
· In coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.
· Understands and operates all MRI equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced. Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.
· Views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.
· Exhibits a working knowledge of the magnet and relevant computer hardware and software. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start up procedures.
· Adheres to and understands MRI safety policy.
· Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
· Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals of the department and the institution.
Qualifications
· 1 years of MRI experience
· Passion for MRI
· Horse background a plus, but not required
· Self-motivated, positive attitude with strong work ethic and good time management skills
· Efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent communication skills
Education
· High School Diploma/GED Required
· MRI Program completion or comparable work history/ expertise required
