Job Description Summary
One of four endowed projects in the Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC), The Leonore Annenberg Institute for Civics (LAIC) manages the Civics Renewal Network, sponsors Annenberg Classroom, and supervises creation of instructional materials, such as films and video games, on the Constitution. APPC is seeking a leader in the field of civics education to serve as Director of Outreach and Curriculum for LAIC. As part of the process of assisting with LAIC projects, the Outreach Director, who will answer to the Director of LAIC, will engage in national outreach to increase public awareness of the need for high quality civics education, identify and fund innovative curricular content on the Constitution for Annenberg Classroom, superintend content production and dissemination, and expand the reach of existing LAIC materials in the nation's classrooms, home schooling settings, libraries, and in the military and business sectors. This experienced individual will work to raise the profile of and expand engagement with LAIC's two premier projects - Annenberg Classroom and the Civics Renewal Network - among educators as well other civics education organizations. The Outreach Director also will represent LAIC and APPC in workshops, webinars, teacher institutes, conferences and major civics events, such as Constitution Day.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will possess extensive contacts in the education field and the skills and experience needed to function as a national leader in civics education, as well as have the proven capacity to develop and implement innovative approaches to civics education. Responsibilities will include:
Working with the 39 nonprofit, nonpartisan partner organizations in the Civics Renewal Network to increase the visibility and impact of high quality civics content and superintending the process of increasing traffic to the Civics Renewal Network and Annenberg Classroom websites
Editing and managing the CRN and Annenberg Classroom websites.
Seeking new audiences for LAIC's education resources and increasing their use by educators in elementary and secondary schools and community colleges and in the business sector and military
Building connections with teachers who can advise on curriculum and websites through workshops, conferences, webinars and summer institutes
Leading content development for Annenberg Classroom.
Leading efforts to disseminate Annenberg Classroom resources on other websites, such as Share My Lesson.
Writing regular newsletters and creating promotional materials to disseminate information about Annenberg civics resources.
Coordinating with the Director of Communications on promotion of Annenberg Classroom and the Civics Renewal Network.
Managing the social media accounts for Annenberg Classroom and CRN, including Twitter, Tik Tok, Instagram.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in civics education or related non-profit work is required. Master's degree preferred. In addition, successful candidates will have:
A vision for creating and adapting civics resources for the changing media and educational environment of the middle of the 21st century
A track record of creating and implementing innovative work in the civics education field
In-depth knowledge and understanding of current classroom requirements and teachers' needs
Ability to supervise the creation and dissemination of high-quality resources in a variety of formats
Excellent writing and speaking skills
Project and event management experience
Experience leading a program delivery team, including internal staff and external partners and stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to achieve marketing and publicity outcomes for educational programs and resources
An extensive, national network of contacts in civics, education, and related fields
A commitment to and track record of championing inclusion, diversity, equity, and access
Work schedule
The Annenberg Public Policy Center building is open five days per week but currently offers its staff the option of working from home on Mondays and Fridays.

Targeted pay range
The targeted pay range for this position is $74,476 - $100,000
This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting. All salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
