The Assistant Director, Communications & Events, supports program marketing, communications, social media, materials development, and event planning and execution for the Fels Institute of Government. Primary responsibilities include supporting the maintenance and management of the Fels website, managing social media accounts, supporting event planning and execution, writing the weekly newsletter and other communications, and creating materials and content for various purposes. The Assistant Director will work closely with Fels staff members and coordinate with other relevant university teams as well as external stakeholders. This role will also provide support for FelsNet, symposia, and other internal and external events. This role is hybrid eligible and requires evening and occasional weekend work scheduled in advance. Job Responsibilities
Program Marketing & Social Media: Conduct annual competitor scan of other university programs to identify growth and opportunity areas for Fels. Coordinate with Fels staff and LPS marketing team to develop and approve digital marketing content for recruitment communications and advertising. Create and execute social media and communications plans in collaboration with Director and other staff members. Support maintenance and management of Fels website. Create and post content to social media and other outlets on a regular basis to achieve defined goals; goals are to increase awareness, brand and reputation of Fels with internal and external audiences.
Event Planning & Execution: Manage a wide variety of Fels events and programming from planning to execution through follow-up. Examples include recruitment events, graduate fairs, information sessions, orientation, graduation, external speakers, professional lunches, conference, trips. Work with Director and Associate Director on event goals and strategy; project manage execution and implementation of events. Create and maintain internal and external events calendar. Oversee event budgets. Manage logistical and staffing needs for events, including registration, run of show execution, and follow-up; providing guidance to Program Coordinator on room/space reservations, catering, AV and materials for events. Coordinate with vendors as needed.
Communication & Materials: Write copy, select photos and collaborate with LPS design team to produce print and digital materials for recruitment, events, surveys and other purposes. Create and maintain style guides for consistent communication and branding. Develop content ideas and write weekly e-newsletter (This Week at Fels). Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including staff, faculty, students, prospective students, alumni and others. Coordinate as needed with other staff members and student workers. Support implementation and maintenance of FelsNet student/alumni platform.
Recruitment: Support all phases of student recruitment and admissions processes, including engaging with prospective students and recently admitted students. Meet application and enrollment targets through effective communication with prospects and other strategies. Provide professional customer service and respond to inquiries via phone, walk-ins and email, as well as at recruiting events, including recruitment fairs. With other staff members, coordinate recruitment events, such as graduate fairs, information sessions, and other areas. Follow up with qualified prospects and partner organizations to increase yield for full-time and executive MPA tracks. Use enrollment technology systems to track and improve effectiveness of recruitment initiatives.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and
experience, is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to
manage multiple stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
Candidate should have experience creating written and visual content for a variety of audiences
with a track record of strong results, including through social media.
Ideal candidate has an interest in and understanding of elements of design, website optimization,
and other aspects of marketing.
Ideal candidate should have experience managing events or projects with multiple stakeholders
and a track record of strong results.
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail. Comfort in fast
paced environment and multi-tasking.
Strong goal and results orientation. Strategic thinking, sound judgment and discretion with access
to sensitive information.
Systems orientation and strong computer/technology skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite,
and a willingness to work with new software and technology.
Strong ability to simplify and systematize tasks and processes. A proactive, analytical problem
solver.
Qualified candidates must be willing to work nights and weekends (scheduled in advance).
Targeted Pay Range: $51,824 - $71,528
This Targeted Pay Range is only applicable to this job posting. All salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
