The UNT Department of History hosts the university's minors in Africana Studies and in Mexican American Studies, as well as its undergraduate certificate program in Food Studies. Several of our faculty members hold affiliations with the UNT Women's and Gender Studies Program. The department is also home to UNT's renowned Oral History Program, to a number of digital scholarship projects, and to the UNT Military History Center. We have 32 full-time faculty members; approximately 500 undergraduate majors and minors; and 100 graduate students.

The Department of History at the University of North Texas invites applications for a full-time, continuing lecturer position in United States history to begin in Fall 2024. We seek candidates for this position who are dynamic and creative teachers, committed to mentoring and educating our large and diverse community of students. Responsibilities include teaching high-enrollment U.S. history survey courses; teaching upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate's areas of specialization; and performing departmental service.

*PhD in history or closely related field

*College level teaching experience

*Demonstrated effective communication skills

*Experience teaching U.S. history survey courses

*Familiarity with teaching both in person and online

*Expertise in some aspect of race, ethnicity, indigeneity, and/ or gender and sexuality
