General Description / Primary Purpose
The Associate Director of Industry Engagement, under the direction of the Director or higher, is responsible for creating, growing and managing relationships with industry partners seeking to develop a recruiting relationship with the University of North Florida. The role is a critical part of the Career Services Industry Engagement team, working to craft new career-driven opportunities for UNF students and alumni while regularly communicating directly with industry to ensure needs are met.
This position supervises Career Services staff to ensure Career Services meets the needs of our employers quickly and accurately with exceedingly high levels of customer service to create strong connections between employers and UNF students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Responsible for managing the relationship between UNF and its industry partners. Identifies new prospective employers, manages the relationship of existing employers, and seeks opportunities to grow existing partnerships to better fit the hiring needs of our employers.
Meets with industry directly through virtual and in-person means, traveling as needed. Oversees execution of industry relationship initiatives. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

The Associate Director of Industry Engagement has many essential duties which include:
  • Meets and communicates regularly with employers and community partners, educating on ways to effectively engage, recruit and hire students at the University of North Florida. Utilizes strong communication skills to respond quickly and with clarity. Works with the whole of the UNF Industry Engagement team to communicate employer needs across colleges and industries.
  • Oversees the relationships of employer partners in dedicated industry fields, partnering with colleges, campus partners and student organizations to ensure that employment opportunities are made widely available for students. Responsible for keeping track of the hiring performance of employer partners and working to ensure that their hiring needs are met while developing new strategies to maintain high levels of employer satisfaction and outstanding customer service.
  • Creates goals for increasing the recruiting presence and performance of industry sectors associated with UNF programs, actively listening to the recruiting needs of the employer community and responding with creative engagement opportunities that meet needs for our students and alumni.
  • Partners with college leadership, faculty, and staff to identify new ways to integrate industry into college programs, curriculum, student organizations and other purposeful means of integration in ways that mutually benefit all stakeholders.
  • Establishes customized employer recruiting plans fitting the individual needs of highly engaged employer partners, listening to needs of the employer and finding solutions to meet specific individual hiring requirements. Grows relationships with recruiting employers and their staff to increase accessibility and awareness of services and opportunities to engage with the university. Advises potential employers and updates current employers on recruiting strategies that will help build their on-campus presence. Collaborates with various university faculty, staff, and student organizations to ensure employer visits meet campus stakeholder and employer needs and expectations. Optimize, grow, and track employer on-campus engagement strategies with stakeholders.
  • Works with the Assistant Director of Industry Engagement and Events Coordinator to oversee the successful execution of employer events and activities on campus directly related to the industry areas being served by the Associate Director. This includes regularly occurring campus recruiting activities such as networking mixers, industry-focused career fairs, employer information sessions and individual on-campus recruiting days. Works with Assistant Director to plan on-campus interview schedules for employers in concert with Career Services Industry Engagement staff, communicating with industry to plan their hiring day, managing both employer/student scheduling, booking and setting up interview rooms, and notifying office staff of employer schedules to ensure all expectations are met.
  • Engages with Career Services Student Engagement Team to educate student-facing staff on employer updates and trends. Works with Assistant Director of Student Engagement to effectively promote recruiting events and activities to students and alumni.
  • Meets with students to highlight upcoming career opportunities and assist with student career readiness. Engages student organizations to establish further opportunities for employers to engage with students across the campus.

This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and six years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 10 years of direct experience.
