Primary Purpose Of Organizational UnitThe Behavioral Health Springboard ( BHS ) at the School of Social Work, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill links current research to initiatives in mental health and substance use disorder treatment systems. BHS offers curricula development, technical assistance, program consultation, and face-to-face and online educational programs. Collaboration between the university and the community (local, regional/state, global) is mutually beneficial for the exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. These exchanges enrich scholarship and research; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good. Our training resources, products, and experienced staff help organizations design effective service delivery systems and assist with the transitions needed to implement evidenced based practices for improved client outcomes and systems efficiencies.
Position SummaryThis position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station . If business needs change, an individual employee’s designation may be adjusted with a required minimum of ten (10) business days’ notice unless employee conduct or safety issues necessitate otherwise at the discretion of management.
The Adolescent Behavioral Health Social Clinical Research Specialist will report to the BHS Director and will be primarily responsible for monitoring, tracking and reporting research data associated with adolescent behavioral health programs across BHS programs. For the youth and teen MHFA training program, the Adolescent Behavioral Health Social Clinical Research Specialist will track training course development and participant attendance; evaluate participant engagement and instructor effectiveness, and report course/instructor evaluation data for in-person and virtual youth and teen MHFA courses taught in NC schools and youth serving organizations. Data collected across this training program will be used to inform the development of program policies, materials procurement, and other continuous improvement processes. This position will support the development and facilitation of children’s behavioral health focus groups for the youth and teen MHFA programs and other BHS children’s behavioral health programs within BHS (eg. school behavioral health, systems of care, infant and early childhood behavioral health, children with complex needs.) This position will be responsible for reporting and posting evaluation findings and children’s behavioral health focus group analysis results on the YMHFA website and the Behavioral Health Springboard Children’s Behavioral Health website. This position will work closely with the K-12 School Based MHFA Coordinator, Adult MHFA Coordinator and the MHFA Program Assistant to ensure proper alignment and promote engagement with the UNC campus-based MHFA program policies and guidelines. This is a time-limited, full time (1.0 FTE ) position with guaranteed funding through June 30, 2025. This position will be located in Chapel Hill and will require up to 25% travel across NC. Both virtual and in-person residential trainings will be required, in accordance with UNC CH COVID -19 Community Standards.
This position is a 1 year time-limited position, with the possibility of extension if funding is available.
Minimum Education And Experience RequirementsBachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
  • Ability to manage workload both independently and collaboratively without immediate direct supervision.
  • Ability to think critically and use conflict resolution skills to solve complex logistical problems involving diverse populations (eg. schools, community based nonprofits, university).
  • Approachable, calm style encourages open communication across stakeholders
  • Certified by the National Council on Wellbeing to teach youth and teen MHFA courses.
  • Experience using implementation science tools and strategies to support adaptation of innovations
  • Experience using data to problem-solve and develop a continuous quality improvement process.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
  • Ability to train others (eg. work study students, interns) in data/information collection and use of tools (eg. Qualtrics, Microsoft excel, wordpress)
  • Experience with data collection or reporting for grant writing or extramural funding
  • Ability to perform statistical analyses using both qualitative and quantitative data sets
  • Experience with online learning management systems and platforms (eg. canvas, blackboard)
Required Licenses/CertificationsSpecial Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to move up to 20 lbs.
  • Personally accessible vehicle for transporting training materials and supplies to in state training sites.
