Position Summary
The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term clinical instructor. The successful candidate will join the UNC Department of Psychiatry as an individual therapist working with a general adult population out of our primary outpatient clinic in Chapel Hill.
The physical location of the position is in Chapel Hill, NC, but it is anticipated that much of the work could be completed as virtual care delivered from home.
Clinical responsibilities will primarily include delivery of psychotherapy to a diverse population of adults. Although mood and anxiety disorders are the most common conditions seen in this patient population, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and other psychiatric conditions may also be a focus of treatment. Some screening and assessment of patients new to the clinic may be expected as well. There is no on-call associated with this position.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Conduct intake and clinical comprehensive assessments as needed.
  • Develop person-centered treatment plans containing measurable goals and objectives.
  • Provide clinical consultation and support as needed to team members and other professionals involved with the overall plan of care for the individual.
  • Maintain timely documentation of service in our electronic health record and bill appropriately for services.
  • Attend supervision, staff meetings, and in-service trainings and other meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Social Work or related health field.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in provision of psychotherapy to a diverse population. Fully licensed clinicians are preferred but provisionally licensed clinicians will be considered (LCSW, LCSW-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, LCMHC and LCMHC-A).
