Working Title | Teaching Lab Technician - Chemistry |

Position Summary | The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking for a Teaching Lab Tech for our upper-level undergraduate teaching labs. This tech will be working with a current team of other Techs in a dynamic group supporting numerous students per semester. This position requires successful teamwork and an excitement for an academic environment. Student support is essential! Duties include: Preparing chemicals, lab equipment, and student drawers for teaching lab. Maintains laboratory facilities and stockroom for experiments. Minor maintenance of upper-level lab course instrumentation, such as, but not limited to, GC-MS, FT-IR, and HPLC. Maintaining a web server for student data submission. Grading student data submissions. Plans laboratory exercises with faculty. Tests and conducts experiments, exercises, and demonstrations. Provides technical assistance to staff and teaching assistants concerning experimental preparations and procedures. Ensures compliance with health and safety standards of laboratory operations. The working schedule for these positions are variable M-Th typically with Fridays off. Evening hours are required. Work schedule may vary from semester to semester depending on student demand. Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
