Position Summary | The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal FetalMedicine Division is seeking a prenatal genetic counselor to join our team tohelp drive our mission of providing high quality compassionate care to ourpatients, evidence-based education and training to our medical students,providers, and faculty, and pursuing innovative and evaluative research as wefurther the acquisition of women's health knowledge. The successful candidate will provide a broad range of counselingservices, including assessment and care for prenatal orpreconception patients who are at risk for having a child with an inheritedcondition, birth defect, developmental disability or other disorder. Through these services, the genetic counselorwill supportimproved patient understanding that enables personalized informeddecision-making, identify families at risk, interpret informationabout the disorder, analyze inheritance patterns, and review available optionswith the family. With supervision fromthe faculty and physicians in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division, the geneticcounselor will exercise independent judgment in gathering information from thepatient and referring physician, assess this information, enable patientdecision-making and present follow up recommendations. This position maycoordinate and support research activities within area of expertise. New Mexico is called the Land ofEnchantment for good reason. Minimum Qualifications | Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or directly equivalent discipline. Certification/Licensure: Board eligible or board certified as a Genetic Counselor. |
