Position Summary

The Children’s Campus is a high-qualityearly childhood education facility serving the university community. Wecurrently have 15 classrooms and serve over 200 families. The eventscoordinator will be responsible for planning conferences and special eventsthat align with the goals and mission of our program. The planning process willinclude consulting with conference or event directors or other campus personnelto establish goals, services required, facility needs and appropriate usage,and fee schedules as well as coordinating and arranging spaces, exhibits, guestaccommodations, tours, banquets, receptions, and other applicable conferenceactivities that meet the needs of the staff and attendees which includechildren, families, and staff of UNMCC.

Duties include:

  • Monitoring and preparingreports on revenues and expenditures to ensure cost effectiveness
  • Providingon-site coordination and consultation, problem-solving, decision-making, andinteraction with vendors and members of our campus, the UNM campus, and thebroader community.
  • Preparing and providing post-activity evaluation data andreports as necessary to ensure compliance with grant, regulatory andaccreditation requirements.
  • Event management and administrative duties willalso include various administrative functions based on specific eventrequirements, data management and correspondence, event marketing bydeveloping, designing and distributing advertising, press releases, mailings,posters, flyers, newsletters, brochures, web pages, and other materials.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, specifically with children and families.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of space allocation practices and principles.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to lead and train assigned staff.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Strongnegotiating skills.
Additional RequirementsCandidate must complete a preplacement evaluation and an Early Childhood Education and Care Department background check, including fingerprinting.
