Position Summary
The UNM Engineering Student Success Center is solicitingapplications for the position of a student Accounting Technician for 10-15 hours per week. The incumbent will support a range of different disciplines includingaccounting, purchasing, budget, and financial analysis.Routine dutieswill include processing expenditures, recording accounts receivable/payabletransactions, assisting with student and staff reimbursements, and reconcilingrevenues and expenditures to ensure accounting records are correct. The Accounting Technician will assist with the preparation of financial reports andwill work with senior staff on other special projects as needed.

• Maintainsor assists in the maintenance of unit's fiscal control systems.
• Dutiessuch as: purchasing internal/external goods and service requisitions,processing direct pay requests, and/or reimbursements to staff and/orstudents; monthly reconciliation of department accounts.
• Preparesrevenue and expense projections and financial reports.Must keepapprised of UNM finance reporting and practices through appropriateemployee development training. May assist in assist in preparation of financial audit reports.
• Respondsto a range of inquiries regarding financial transactions; researches andresolves problems.
• Reviewspurchasing, travel, and personnel transactions for availability offunding; checks
  mathematical accuracy, coding, and adherence to funding regulations anduniversity policy; may also originate or prepare these documents;processes invoices for payment.
• Assistsin the development and management of budgets for the department orassigned areas; may
  suggest financial control procedures.
• Assistswith other clerical functions as required.
• Mustbe able to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
• Performsmiscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Seekinga student at junior level or higher within an accounting degree program.
• Priorwork experience in an office setting.
• Excellentorganization and time management skills, initiative, excellent computerskills.
• Pleasanttelephone demeanor; ability to interact well with internal and externalclients with professionalism and a courteous manner.
• Generalknowledge of office procedures, discretion, ability to handle frequentinterruptions, ability to establish priorities and adjust to the changingneeds of the office.
