You will join the foundation at an exciting time, with the opportunity to make a transformational impact. The foundation is in the public phase of a historic campaign to raise $3 billion to build a better future for Nebraska. The campaign is being led by many enthusiastic volunteers representing all areas of the University of Nebraska System. This paid position offers a flexible schedule of 10-15 hours per week, professional experience, learning opportunities, and a convenient work location in the Aksarben area.

Position Overview:

The UNO Alumni Engagement Communications Intern assists the Director of Communications and Digital Marketing Manager with initiatives designed to effectively engage UNO alumni and friends through programs, events, and communications.

Ways you’ll make an impact:

  • Assist with writing, creating content, and generating story ideas for digital platforms and print publications
  • Assist with scheduling and posting social media content
  • Assist with creating email marketing messages including copyediting and proofreading
  • Assist in the development of marketing and event promotional materials
  • Assist with updating content on UNO Alumni Association websites
  • Conduct research and update UNO and UNO alumni historical content
  • Take photos at events and edit for communications needs
  • Assist with writing, organizing, and editing content for UNO Magazine

What you need:

  • Education: Current student status at the University of Nebraska – Omaha majoring in communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, or a related field.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience using Associated Press Stylebook, Sprout Social, emma, WordPress, MS Office, InDesign and Photoshop
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of and current involvement in social media
  • Experience creating videos a plus
  • Experience in website content management or development a plus
  • Working knowledge of digital cameras
