Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and talented User Experience Designer to design and shape unique, user-centric websites. The ideal candidate will have experience working in teams, with developers, designers, and copywriters. Must be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user-experience journey into a smooth and intuitive interaction.

We are looking for a team member who will:

Collaborate with stakeholders, developers and content creators during the discovery phase of projects to uncover knowledge gaps, business goals and user needs.

Conduct content audits/inventories of existing websites marked for redesign and make strategy recommendations to writers and content managers.

Create site maps, navigation systems and taxonomies for medium- to large-scale campus websites using information architecture best practices.

Plan, conduct, analyze and present research (e.g., user interviews, card sorts, tree tests, usability studies) to fill in knowledge gaps, inform the design process and evaluate ideas.

Create user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes for websites and persuasively present your design ideas to project stakeholders.

Collaborate with developers to translate ideas into delightful user experiences on WordPress and Drupal platforms.

Provide detailed implementation instructions and style guides for developers and content editors.

Provide support and training as needed.

Stay current on best practices, industry standards and emerging technologies, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the university’s brand standards.

Shift

8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Central), Mon-Fri

Preferred Qualifications

A degree or certificate in Information Technology, Journalism, Art, Graphic Design or a related field is preferred.
Three or more years of experience and proven record of accomplishment.
Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.
Experience using tools such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision, UXPin, Quartz, Figma.
Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3 JavaScript.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000
