University of Michigan is Hiring a Statistician Intermediate Near Ann Arbor, MI

Summary

The HSR division is currently looking for a highly skilled individual who will serve as a Statistician Intermediate for the program. The successful candidate will be trained in working with administrative claims data, learning best practices for dealing with big data, and eventually working independently as part of a large group of statisticians.

Who We Are

The Dow Division of Health Services Research (HSR) in the Department of Urology at the University of Michigan, established in 2008, has a mission to improve the lives of patients through innovative research and collaborative quality improvement, shape local, state, and federal health care policy and delivery, and train the next generation of health care leaders.

Responsibilities*

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Writing and editing programs to clean, manage, merge, and analyze data
  • Participating in meetings with researchers to define research questions, discuss methodology, and present results
  • Perform appropriate analyses on administrative claims data
  • Participate as a co-author in the preparation of medical manuscripts, including writing and editing statistical methods, results, tables, listings, and figures
  • Support presentations by divisional faculty, fellows, and residents by providing appropriate analyses and visual representation of the data and results, editing language, and providing feedback on style
  • Develop research trial designs, including performing power analyses and/or simulations and writing statistical sections of research protocols
  • Provide design and analytic guidance to departmental faculty, fellows, and residents

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, or the equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical claims data and/or the medical research field preferred
  • Skills in using statistical analysis software, such as SAS, R, and/or Stata
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects

Background Screening
