Temporary Job Opening

Summary

This job opening is for a Unit-Based Temporary RN position in the 8D Intermediate Care/Intensive Care Unit.
* Please note that these positions do not qualify for UMHS benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level.
These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council.
* In addition:
Unit- based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year then become a
Per Diem employee and have an obligation to pay dues or service fees as covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council.
* Once the employee meets the 400 hour threshold, they then are a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem.
Temporary APRN employees and MVC temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status.

Responsibilities*

8D

Our Patient and Families

8D is a 20-bed, Critical Care unit which provides care for critical and moderate care medical-surgical patients, as well as those patients who are in transition from ICU to general care and rehabilitation floors. Our patient population requires highly skilled nursing care for the acute and chronic ventilated patient as well as those patients who have difficulties weaning from ventilator support. We care for a broad variety of medical diagnosis and service many different medical teams in the institution.

Our philosophy of care is to provide expert, conscientious, evidence-based, holistic patient-centered care and to identify, evaluate and implement that care in the Intermediate Care environment.

Our Nursing Team

Our nurses and technical support staff are highly motivated and skilled in providing care to our acutely ill and medical-surgical patient population. We have a diverse group of nurses with a broad range of experience who possess a wide array of medical knowledge and background to bring to our team. The nurses on 8D take great pride in caring for our patients with a team and interdisciplinary approach, as well as utilizing the holistic nursing process to inspire our patients to a healthy recovery

Required Qualifications*

Current Michigan RN License
One (1) year current intermediate care nursing experience

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Desired Qualifications*

BSN preferred

Two (2) years RN ICU experience

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully resolve conflicts as demonstrated by current employment experience.
