Responsibilities*

The Barmada laboratory is looking for a research technician for a two (2) year position. The overarching goals of the laboratory are to (1) determine how and why neurons die in the neurodegenerative diseases amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia, and (2) identify therapeutic strategies that can block neuronal dysfunction and cell death in these conditions. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Pinarbasi, a postdoctoral researcher, to design, perform, and interpret experiments with these objectives in mind.

Required Qualifications*

High School diploma or Associate's degree in a science related discipline. We will prioritize candidates with familiarity with R and practical experience with at least one basic technique in biomedical research, such as recombinant DNA cloning, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, fluorescence microscopy, and tissue culturing. However, interested, and enthusiastic candidates with less experience are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should be reliable, have good organizational skills and attention to detail, and be able to work congenially alongside a group of equally hard-working scientists.

Associate Level: 0-1 year experience required.

Intermediate Level: 1-3 years of experience required.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, including molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline.

Additional Information

This is a time limited position, with funding for the position available for two years only.

? This is a term-limited appointment. At the end of the term, the appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction in Force (RIF) Benefits

Background Screening
