University Of Miami Health System is Hiring an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in Miami, Florida Near Miami, FL

The University of Miami Health System is initiating a search for an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine.

Essential Job Functions:

Clinical Responsibilities (70%): 

  • Provide health care for individuals in the primary care clinic commensurate with training and in accordance with the general policies and standards of practice
  • Delivers care appropriate for a primary care clinic with a multicultural patient population
  • Provide all physician care generally provided at a primary care facility 
  • Actively manage all aspects of patient care while on shift
  • Supervise and direct the center’s other clinical staff (Medical Assistants, etc.). Collect biological specimens and process them in the laboratory for testing. Ensure that all charts and medical records are accurately completed in a timely manner; and adhere to all clinical policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the delivery of care, treatment, and referrals
  • Evaluate patients, based on medical training and/or specialty, to determine the medical condition of the patient, through the performance of physical examinations, thereby, establishing a diagnosis and proposed treatment plan
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings; refer and transfer patients for follow-up and/or specialty care and discharge patients. 
  • As a member of the health care team, exemplify an example in attitude toward patients and staff, thereby, performing duties with respect, dignity, privacy, and modesty to the patients. 
  • Participate in the development of clinic protocols and formulary. Make recommendations, suggestions, etc., on chart information forms. 
  • Document each on site/in office procedure, prescription, consultation and patient contact in patient's chart and on the clinic's encounter forms, within a 24-hour period.
  • Counsel patient regarding medical and other problems which might affect patient's health and well-being. 
  • Perform such clinical procedures for patient's benefit which are within scope and skill of practitioner/specialist and which are economically feasible. 
  • Provide direction and leadership to the clinic's medical support staff, with regard to the administering of a patient's care.
  • Provide supervision in case assignment to nurse practitioner/physician assistant, including sign off on charts, where applicable. 

Teaching Responsibilities (20%): 

  • Direct patient care at Jefferson Reaves Senior Health Center Outpatient Clinic. • Teaching, supervising, evaluating and precepting residents.
  • Charting in Mobile Charge and Cerner 
  • Maintaining credentials for the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital 
  • Maintain bard certification through regular CME activities and board examinations 

Administrative Responsibilities, Kendall Family Medicine Medical Director (10%) 

  • Provide clinical and organizational leadership to assure the highest quality patient-centered care. The Medical Director is responsible for providing direct patient care as well as overseeing and facilitating optimal performance of physician and non-physician providers in accordance with the mission, values, and strategic plan 
  • Support senior leadership in the creation of a clinically relevant budget and financial projections
  • Assume responsibility for the creation of an environment that emphasizes inclusion, safety, satisfaction, and respectfulness for all patients and employees.
  • Work with the Sr. Administrative Officer, Chair and Practice Managers of the PAC Family Medicine Clinic on administrative matters like credentialing, scheduling, finances, policies and procedures, quality management and compliance regulations, electronic medical records guidelines for open encounters and inbasket and leave management for the clinic.
  • Oversee the implementation of UMMG policies and procedures for clinic, patient care, quality, compliance, regulatory bodies, etc 

Required Credentials: 

  • Doctoral Degree (MD, DO,), Florida Physician License required. 
  • Three years of experience in area of Family Medicine.
  • Graduation from ACGME Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Board certification in Family Medicine. 
  • Current active state and federal DEA license 
  • Current CPR Certification
