Position Summary

Works under limited direction to be responsible for installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.

Pay Grade: 51H

Minimum Qualifications

100% -

1. Two (2) years of plumbing experience after acquiring Journeyman license; AND

2. High school diploma or possess a GED.

3. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assembles, installs, repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.

2. Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools.

3. Cuts and threads pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe threading machine.

4. Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of various metals and non-metals.

5. Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing, mending, and opening systems as required.

6. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSA's

KSAs -

1. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of plumbing tools and equipment.

2. Knowledge of metal and non-metal piping and their properties.

3. Knowledge of measurements.

4. Ability to interpret building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.

Physical Requirements

Must pass a physical examination.

Special Requirements

1. Must be able to function in a prison environment.

2. Must have a valid Tennessee Driver's license or secure one by date of employment date.

3. Participate in annual in-service and other training programs as required.

4. Must pass drug and TB screen.
