Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the Upward Bound Counselor is to provide personal, academic, and career development counseling to low-income potential first generation college students by equipping participants with the necessary skills to successfully matriculate to post-secondary institutions of their choosing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Master’s degree in counseling/Guidance, Education, or Social Work.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of counseling or teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding and familiarity with computer applications and word-processing functions.
  • Eligible for Licensure in field of study (i.e. counseling, social work).
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Two years experience with administration of counseling assessments.
  • Bilingual (Spanish).
Additional Certifications:
Additional Certifications:
  • Eligible for National Certified Counselor (NCC) and state licenses as professional counselor (LPC).
