What You Will Do:
JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision performs delegated functions including those of a Sterile Processing Technician. Assignments depend on the level of training completed. This position is a training role for the Sterile Processing Technician position.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Education & Training: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Currently enrolled in, or has completed an approved Sterile Processing course. Successfully pass the IAHCSMM certification exam within one year of employment.
Work Orientation & Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) effectively convey verbal and written information; b) follow directions; c) respond to emergency situations appropriately; d) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; e) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; f) organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities; g) comply with The Joint Commission and OSHA standards; and h) Achieves basic competence in each of the following roles through on the job training and didactic education: (a) Decontamination; (b) Prep and Pack/Assembly; (c) Sterilization Methods; (d) Sterile Storage and Distribution; and (e) HLD Processes and Flexible/Rigid Endoscope Reprocessing.
