JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing social work services for the behavioral health inpatient unit. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, assesses patient’s psychosocial, physical, and economic needs. Informs patients and their families about psychiatric treatment, gathers collateral information about patients’ presenting problems, and collaborates with community agencies and outpatient providers. Participates actively in the formation of treatment plans and facilitates comprehensive discharge planning including individualized aftercare treatment and access to community resources. Supports System and Nursing Strategic Plans and Shared Leadership.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work,
• Master's in Social Work preferred.
• Licensed at the appropriate level in the State of Maryland. 
• Experience in a hospital or mental health agency working with behavioral health is preferred. 
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required.
• The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the needs of the patients served. 
• He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
