The  University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UMBWMC ), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has an opening available for a board certified and experience Psychiatric Mental health Nurse Practitioner at our Glen Burnie, Md office who is passionate about care and committed to excellence in mental healthcare.

As our PMHNP at BWMC you're an integral part of our team, serving the mental healthcare needs of our clients over the age of 18. You'll see clients in an outpatient clinical setting either in-person or via telehealth and provide mental health care to our patients referred by their primary care physicians.

Job Description

  • Monday- Friday, NO call
  • Full time, flexible schedule to accommodate clients needs.
  • In-Person and Hybrid flexibility
  • Adult Outpatient general psychiatry
  • Approximately 12-15 ppd.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required.
  • Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Required: Minimum of 2 years of expereince in and outpatietn setting.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
  • Experience preferred, not required.
  • DEA and CDS eligible.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters. Demonstrated/documented effective interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.
  • Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.

Patient Safety

  • Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.
  • Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety
  • Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
  • Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
